Music
At HFSL we love music! We are immersed in music many hours each day. Often music is on when we read the word of God, when we pray and often we use music as one form of our constant pursuit of God in worship. We love joining in with the early church and use the Psalms as songs and prayers. We have some classical training in music and hope to produce our own tracks one day. Please pray for this, thank you :)
On a regular basis we want to highlight a song from a variety of genres that is on our hearts and that you will find on repeat over and over. Either as we are being still quiet in his presence with some ambient tracks or arms stretched to heaven singing a worship song and everything in-between.
Our Current Track on Repeat & Why
Track:
This beauty has been out for several years, and I have loved it for many years but it has been hitting extra deep as of late. I wonder if any of these lyrics ring true today in your world:
'Are you hurting and broken within?
Overwhelmed by the weight of your sin?
Jesus is calling
Have you come to the end of yourself?
Do you thirst for a drink from the well?
Jesus is calling'
I know I am thirsty for a drink from the well today and have wanting more and more of the Living Water in my life lately and can't get enough. This world has nothing to offer me, only he can satisfy my deepest needs.
I grew up with altar calls every Sunday in church and I am so thankful that was part of my faith jounrey growing up. There is something about the posture of standing up amoung your community and going to the altar for prayer. Not only is it a biblical calling I reckon the selfless act amoung friends and family means something special to the triune God. Although the church I attend does not have a priest where I can go share my heart in a confessional booth and ask for prayer, thier is a deep richness in that tradtion. We dont have to go to man to pray to God or ask for forgiveness however this is a very self-emptying and humble of act of surrender to our Heavenly Father.
So...will you 'Bow down before him...and Come to the Altar today? The Fathers arms are open wide, forgiveness was bought with the precious blood of Jesus Christ'
